To migrate from Shopify, you export your products, customers, orders and URL redirects from Shopify's admin as CSV files. Then you import those files into the new platform. Photos are copied from the links in the products file, and collections are read from your live Shopify store, so keep Shopify open until the move is done.

On Shopdrop, a tool called Move your store does the import. It reads your files and shows you what it found before it writes anything. Then it copies your products, photos, customers and orders into your store, and you can undo the whole import for 7 days. The Starter plan costs $10 a month, and Shopdrop takes no commission on sales.

The screenshots in this guide come from a real import of a sample store, Halden & Rye, with 11 products, 14 customers and 16 orders.

**In short**

- Shopify exports products, customers, orders and redirects as CSV files. Collections aren't in any export.
- Shopdrop brings across products, photos, collections, customers, orders and redirects. Reviews, pages and discount codes stay on Shopify.
- For selling on your own domain, Shopdrop Starter costs $10 a month and Shopify Basic costs $25.
- The move takes 11 steps, from the first export to closing your Shopify store.

## What a Shopify store is made of

Every platform imports a Shopify store from the same files, so this section applies wherever you move.

- **Products** export as a CSV with one row per variant. It carries titles, descriptions, prices, compare-at prices, SKUs, stock, weight, tags, SEO fields and links to each photo. The photos themselves stay on Shopify's servers.
- **Customers** export with their addresses, phone numbers, tags and marketing consent for email, SMS and WhatsApp.
- **Orders** export with one row per line item. If you have more than 50, Shopify emails you the file.
- **URL redirects** export as two columns, the old address and the new one, and only if you ever made any.
- **Collections** aren't in any export. An importer has to read them from your live store.

Some things no platform can move. Customer passwords never leave Shopify, and neither do gift card balances. Shopify's own help says discount codes can't be transferred, so you recreate the ones you still use. Reviews kept by an app live with that app. Your theme is written for Shopify, which is why every platform asks you to pick a new design.

Do the move in this order so you keep selling the whole time. Build the new store while the old one still sells. Import, check the result, set up payments and delivery, and place a test order. Point your domain at the new store. Close Shopify last.

## What comes across to Shopdrop

| What | On Shopdrop |
| --- | --- |
| Products | Variants and options, prices, compare-at prices, SKUs, stock, weight, tags, status, descriptions, and SEO title and description |
| Photos | Copied to Shopdrop, variant photos included, up to your plan's photos per product (5 on Free, 250 on paid plans) |
| Collections | Read from your live Shopify store as fixed lists |
| Customers | Everyone with an email or a phone number, with their addresses |
| Marketing consent | Only where Shopify recorded a yes |
| Orders | In your store's currency, marked as imported. Orders in another currency stay behind |
| URL redirects | From Shopify's redirects export, ready for your domain move |
| Videos, reviews, pages and blog posts | Stay on Shopify |
| Discounts, gift cards and the theme | Stay on Shopify |

*A Shopify import brings these into Shopdrop.*

Imported orders are history. No email goes to a customer, no alert reaches your phone and no stock moves. One switch in Settings leaves them out of your sales figures, so your numbers show only what you sold on Shopdrop.

## What you get on Shopdrop

A Shopdrop store includes the features below, and each one links to its own page. Where a feature needs a paid plan, the line says which.

- [**Themes**](https://shopdrop.pro/themes) and the [**store editor**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/website-builder) let you click any words or picture on the page to change it.
- The [**AI store builder**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/ai-store-builder) sets up a store from a name and one photo.
- [**Genie**](https://shopdrop.pro/genie) is an AI assistant in your dashboard that drafts product listings, discounts and design changes for you to approve. [**Superstudio**](https://shopdrop.pro/superstudio) makes product photos and banners.
- A [**Brand Kit**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/brand-kit) keeps your logo, colors and fonts in one place.
- You list [**products with their variants**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/products) and group them into [**collections**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/collections).
- [**Checkout**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/checkout) takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal through your own Stripe or PayPal account, and you can add bank transfer and cash on delivery. Shopdrop adds no fee on any plan.
- [**Orders and stock**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/orders) and [**customers and reviews**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/customers) each have their own screen, and [**Insights**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/insights) shows your sales.
- [**Discounts**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/discounts) work on every plan, and checkout reminder emails start on Starter. [**Marketing**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/marketing) adds campaigns from Growth.
- [**SEO**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/seo) tools come with every plan, and [**your own domain**](https://shopdrop.pro/features/domains) connects from Starter.
- You can run [**your store from Claude, ChatGPT or Grok**](https://shopdrop.pro/mcp) and ask for a new product, today's sales or a discount code in the chat app you already use. It works on every plan, Free included.

Shopdrop ships something new every week. The [changelog](https://shopdrop.pro/changelog) lists each change by date. In October alone it added card and PayPal payments, the Claude, ChatGPT and Grok connector, delivery options at checkout, tracking emails and abandoned-checkout reminders.

## What it costs: Shopdrop, Shopify, Squarespace and Wix

Prices come from each platform's own pricing page, checked on 31 Oct 2026, in US dollars. Each cell shows monthly billing, then the monthly price when you pay for a year. Wix lists yearly prices only.

| | Shopdrop | Shopify | Squarespace | Wix |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free plan that takes orders | Free: $0, 10 products | None (its Agentic plan sells only inside AI chats) | None (14-day trial) | Free plan can't take payments |
| Entry plan that sells | Starter: $10 / $8 | Basic: $25 / $19 | Basic: $19 / $12 | Core: $29 a month, yearly |
| Next plan | Growth: $25 / $20 | Grow: $65 / $49 | Core: $27 / $17 | Business: $39 a month, yearly |
| Top plan | Pro: $50 / $40 | Advanced: $399 / $299 | Advanced: $36 / $25 | Business Elite: $159 a month, yearly |
| Platform fee on top of card fees | None, on any plan | Up to 2% with a provider other than Shopify Payments | 2% on Basic, none from Core | None listed for store orders |

*Each cell shows monthly billing, then yearly billing per month, in US dollars. Prices come from each platform's pricing page on 31 Oct 2026.*

A plan's name tells you little. What you need tells you more, so here's the cheapest plan on each platform for the same set of features.

| What you need | Shopdrop | Shopify | Squarespace | Wix |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Take orders on a free plan | Free | No | No | No |
| Your own domain, unlimited products, discount codes, no platform fee with your own payment provider | Starter: $10 / $8 | Basic: $25 / $19, with a fee unless you use Shopify Payments | Core: $27 / $17 | Core: $29 yearly (up to 50,000 products; coupon codes not listed) |
| All of that, plus staff accounts and checkout reminder emails | Starter: $10 / $8, 1 staff account and one reminder email (a full series from Growth) | Grow: $65 / $49, 5 staff | Core: $27 / $17, unlimited contributors | Core: $29 yearly, 5 collaborators |
| Premium themes | Included from Growth | Paid themes, mostly $170 to $400 each | Templates included | Templates included |

*Each cell shows the cheapest plan with that set of features, monthly then yearly per month. Checked on 31 Oct 2026.*

For a store on your own domain with unlimited products and discount codes, Shopdrop is the cheapest of the four, whether you pay monthly or yearly. That still holds when you add a staff account and a checkout reminder email. Shopdrop is also the only one with a free plan that takes orders. Squarespace gives more staff seats on its Core plan, and Shopdrop's full series of reminder emails comes with Growth.

The others have real strengths. Shopify has the biggest app store, its own point of sale and its own payments in many countries. Squarespace prints US shipping labels from its Core plan. Wix has over 2,000 templates and bookings built in. All three now connect to Claude and ChatGPT, as Shopdrop does, so an AI connector no longer sets a platform apart.

## How to move a Shopify store to Shopdrop, step by step

The screenshots below come from a real import of the sample store.

### 1. Start your Shopdrop store, and keep Shopify open

[Start a free store](https://app.shopdrop.pro/signup) first. Leave your Shopify store online until the move is done. Your photos are copied from Shopify's links, and your collections are read from your live store, so both need Shopify open.

### 2. Export your files from Shopify

In your Shopify admin, export these:

- **Products:** Products, then Export, then All products. ([Shopify's guide](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/import-export/export-products))
- **Customers:** Customers, then Export, then All customers. ([Shopify's guide](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/customers/import-export-customers))
- **Orders:** Orders, then Export, then All orders. Over 50 orders, check your inbox for the file. ([Shopify's guide](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/fulfillment/managing-orders/exporting-orders))
- **URL redirects,** if you made any: Content, then Menus, then URL redirects, then Export. ([Shopify's guide](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/menus-and-links/url-redirect))

If you stock products in more than one location, add the inventory export from Products, then Inventory. Leave the files as Shopify made them. File names don't matter.

### 3. Open Move your store

In Shopdrop, open Products and choose Import. Settings, then Import and export, has the same entry. Pick Shopify.

![The Move your store screen in Shopdrop, asking where you're moving from, with Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Etsy](https://cdn.shopdrop.pro/content/8fa7ff0c-c107-4485-b455-fe2c362e35fb.w1600.webp)
*Shopify moves today. WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Etsy are next.*

### 4. Add your files

Drop all your files in at once, up to 10 files of 60 MB each. Shopdrop reads each file's columns to tell products from customers, and lists what it found under each one. Then add your Shopify store's address so your collections come across.

[Video: Choosing Shopify, then adding the products, customers, orders and redirects exports, each one recognized and counted](https://cdn.shopdrop.pro/content/b20398a0-e115-4b5e-ae87-f62e0235276c.webm)

### 5. Read the check

Nothing is written to your store yet. The check shows what's coming: products and variants, photos, collections, customers and orders with their date range. It tells you what fits your plan. On Free, your live products come in first, up to 10. The rest wait in the import, and come across with one tap after you move to a paid plan. If a product with the same address is already in your store, you choose whether to keep yours or take Shopify's.

![The check before importing: 10 of 11 products, 11 photos, 14 customers and 16 orders from August to October 2026, with the button Import 10 products, 14 customers and 16 orders](https://cdn.shopdrop.pro/content/71d7dc20-751d-4bcd-bedd-b095462afb8e.w1600.webp)
*Nothing is written to the store until you press Import.*

### 6. Import

Press the button and the import runs stage by stage. You can leave the page and keep working. It picks up where it is when you come back.

### 7. Read the report

The report shows what came in and anything worth a second look, one line each. Customers who said yes to marketing on Shopify are on your email list. Nobody else is added.

![The import report: 10 products, 10 photos, 14 customers with 7 on the email list, and 16 orders](https://cdn.shopdrop.pro/content/70de0d48-4da7-4f7b-bc28-9d781334003e.w1600.webp)
*The one skipped product is waiting for room on the Free plan.*

### 8. Look over your products

Open Products. Every product has its photos, variants, prices, stock and SEO fields from Shopify, and its address is the same as on Shopify.

![The Shopdrop product list after the import, with photos, stock levels and prices for each product](https://cdn.shopdrop.pro/content/f85c2c47-5313-4e25-a721-dd091a4ba0a5.w1600.webp)
*Each product arrives with its photos, prices and stock.*

### 9. Bring your domain

Shopdrop keeps each product's and collection's Shopify address, so `/products/maren-linen-overshirt` stays `/products/maren-linen-overshirt`. Once your domain points to Shopdrop, those saved and shared links open the same products. The redirects you exported come across with the import, ready for that move.

### 10. Undo, if you need to

If you picked the wrong files or want to start again, Undo removes everything the import brought in. It stays there for 7 days, as long as nothing the import made has been edited or sold.

![The confirmation to undo an import, available until 7 Nov 2026 while nothing it made has been edited or sold](https://cdn.shopdrop.pro/content/4fd8fb7a-243b-4058-8bdd-779431feddaa.w1200.webp)
*One tap takes the import back out.*

### 11. Go live, then close Shopify

Set up your [payments](https://shopdrop.pro/features/checkout) and delivery, and place a test order. Point your [domain](https://shopdrop.pro/features/domains) at Shopdrop. If orders came in on Shopify while you worked, add a fresh orders export. Only the new ones come across.

Then close your Shopify store: Settings, then Plan, then Cancel plan ([Shopify's guide](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/manage-orgs-and-stores/manage-pricing-plan/deactivate-store)). A domain you bought through Shopify renews on its own, so move it or cancel its renewal first. Your Shopdrop data stays yours: Settings, then Import and export, downloads your products in Shopify's own layout, plus your orders, customers and subscribers.

## Questions people ask

### Can I migrate from Shopify for free?

Yes. Move your store is on every Shopdrop plan, Free included, and there's no price per record. On Free, your live products come in first, up to 10, with every customer and order. The rest come across with one tap after you move to a paid plan, from $10 a month, and every paid plan starts with 7 days free.

### Will my product links still work?

Shopdrop keeps each product's and collection's Shopify address, such as /products/your-product. Once your domain points to Shopdrop, those links open the same items.

### Can I keep selling on Shopify while I move?

Yes. Import while your Shopify store stays open. Before you close it, add a fresh orders export, and only the orders Shopdrop doesn't have yet come across.

### What happens to my customers' marketing consent?

It comes across as Shopify recorded it. Customers who said yes to email marketing join your email list, and nobody else is added. Customers with only a phone number come across too.

### Does Shopdrop take a cut of my sales?

No. Shopdrop takes no commission on any plan. Cards and PayPal go through your own Stripe or PayPal account at their own rates.

### Which platforms can I move from?

You can move from Shopify today, using your own exports. WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Etsy are next, and they already show on the Move your store screen.
